Fox News host Sean Hannity admitted he did not understand it was legal to marry your first cousin as he spoke with California Governor Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis, 47, said Florida is behind in banning cousin marriages and revealed he’s hoping to outlaw the follow soon. “Florida doesn’t ban cousin marriage: That’s a hanging curveball for us to do; we need to do that,” he said at a invoice signing ceremony on Monday, April 6.

The politician appeared on Fox News’ Hannity a day later, where the host quizzed him about the wedding ban. Ending cousin marriage is not the only factor DeSantis is pushing for.

“Governor, good to see you. Maybe I’m just a little ignorant here, I didn’t know that it was legal to marry a first cousin,” Hannity admitted on the Tuesday, April 7, broadcast.

DeSantis replied, “Well, in a lot of states, it’s not. Florida needs to get with the program on that one. It’s obviously part of cultures that are antithetical to American values and so that’s something that we will get done one way or another.”

DeSantis then went on a rant about “Islamist groups” as he told Hannity, “But on the broader issue of not allowing Islamist groups to get public money from things in Florida, whether it’s education or any of the other things that we’re doing. You’ve gotta draw a very clear red line and the red line I’ve drawn is, we’ll spend millions on public safety, millions on education, but not one cent for Jihad.

“And so we’ve got to establish teams that are supporting these organizations and it might not be that they’re personally committing assaults, but if they’re funding them, or offering materials assist. You know, that’s one thing our state has acquired to acknowledge and then act appropriately.”

He added, “The laws I did also has a firm ban on any use of Sharia law, not just at the state degree. We do not wanna end up like Europe where they’ve no go zones, where you’ve gotten these little subcultures where this stuff’s imposed. That now is completely off the desk in Florida.”

Viewers were left a little confused by the Fox News exchange, with one person writing, “Ummm.”

Another joked, “If two Trump supporters get divorced do they continue to be cousins?” as someone else echoed, “Oooh noooo they need to get rid of MAGA manufacturing line.”

A third person pointed out, “It’s legal in 25 states I consider. Surprised he did not know this.”

“If Sean Hannity did not know you’ll be able to marry your first cousin in components of America, he must be deaf, dumb and blind, and it begs the query ‘what else did not he/would not he know?'” someone else fumed. “He advises the President. No marvel America has an absolute ignoramus for a President.”

A fifth person asked, “Wait… how did we get from trump threatening to annihilate 91 million Iranians to marrying a first cousin…”
