Jesse Watters backtracked on his commentary about President Donald Trump’s struggle against Iran, which irked conservatives.
During the Fox News broadcast of Jesse Watters Primetime on August 7, the conservative host reported on the latest developments in the Strait of Hormuz, the first export route for oil. The United States and Iran have been claiming authority over the pathway while exchanging airstrikes. When the phase began, Watters announced, as he did at the start of the week, that the U.S. was close to a deal to open the Strait.
However, Watters backtracked on his feedback and revealed the deal wasn’t going to occur. This got here after The Five host Jessica Tarlov sparred with Watters during a heated on-air debate over Trump’s latest remarks on Iran.
Watters said at first, “Fox News alert! We’re closing in on a deal! Middle Eastern negotiators agreed to open up the Strait. With no tolls! On one condition! State media says Israeli ships can sail through!”
He then cracked up, laughed at his own joke, and yelled, “That’s not happening!”

Viewers took to social media to slam Watters’ feedback, arguing his phase ought to have been fact-checked before airing.
One viewer said, “Unfortunately, cowards like Jesse Watters have no balls to call out the president over his schizophrenic foreign policy. Complete coward! And I used to like Jesse. However, I’ve lost all respect for him. He is a coward!”
Another viewer added, “All the negotiations are inside Trump’s head. His mouth just says random s–t!”
A 3rd wrote, “More b–ls–t from Watters. Announcing a ‘deal’ one second, then admitting it isn’t happening the next. Pure propaganda theater.”
Despite the criticism, Watters did have a supporter who shared, “Must be a pain for Watters to be very flexible and pivot easily after what Trump says or does.”
On August 4, the conservative host beforehand reported on the Strait of Hormuz, the first oil export route. According to Watters, President Trump reportedly secured a peace deal with Iran to reopen the Strait.

As the phase went on, Watters also claimed that Iran has “surrendered” the Strait to the United States and boasted, “We may have a deal by tomorrow.”
Watters gloated, “Fox News alert! The gay ayatollah is back at the table. Sources say he could be surrendering the Strait. Talks are moving. We may have a deal by tomorrow.”
A deal between the United States and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz didn’t occur.
“Negotiations are over the routes. Ships should sail through Hormuz. Trump says no fees.”
Watters continued, “Now if we don’t like what they’re cooking up, the sanctions and blockade stay. No sweat off our backs. Iran is losing a small fortune every day. Meanwhile, the stock market had another banger!”
