The future of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth seems unsure after a Fox News host hinted that his tenure within the White House could be nearing its finish.

Hegseth made an look on Fox and Friends on Tuesday, following allegations that he had disclosed a number of assault methods in a second group chat by way of the Signal messaging app.

Brian Kilmeade, the show’s host, initiated the interview by mistakenly referring to Pete because the “former secretary,” swiftly correcting himself to say “current secretary of state” whereas Hegseth provided an awkward smile.

Kilmeade continued his introduction by mentioning Hegseth’s previous position as a “former host at Fox and Friends”. The dialog took a downward flip from there, with Hegseth launching into a verbal tirade towards supposed “disgruntled” ex-employees.

“Brian, I want this to be very clear,” Hegseth addressed Brian Kilmeade. “We take the classification of new information very importantly. It’s very important to us that we safeguard it,” stories the Irish Star.

He continued: “And so when we’ve had leaks, which we have had. We did a serious leak investigation and through that leak investigation, unfortunately, we have found some folks that we believe were not holding to the protocols that we hold dear here at the Defense Department,” he added. “Through that investigation, they have been moved on, and that investigation continues.”

Hegseth has confidently said that procedures on the Pentagon are absolutely “above board” and emphasised their dedication to defending data, saying, “At this point, those folks who had been leaking are now attempting to leak and sabotage the president’s agenda.”

The controversy surrounding Hegseth peaked with allegations of him disclosing delicate army methods towards Houthi rebels in Yemen during conversations in a Signal group chat with Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic.

This previous weekend, it emerged that Hegseth is accused of sharing army particulars in a Signal group chat that included his spouse and brother. Nonetheless, officers have maintained, as they did beforehand, that the chat didn’t contain any categorized discussions.

Reacting to those stories, President Donald Trump dismissed them to journalists on Monday as unfounded assaults: “It’s just fake news. They just bring up stories,” stating that he perceives the complaints appear to return from dissatisfied former colleagues: “I guess it sounds like disgruntled employees. You know, he was put there to get rid of a lot of bad people, and that’s what he’s doing. So, you don’t always have friends when you do that.”
