Fox News interrupted their programming to report the breaking news that Ryan Routh, who tried to assassinate President Donald Trump, has been sentenced to life in prison.
On Wednesday, February 4, Ryan, 59, was convicted of making an attempt to kill Trump at one of his golf programs in West Palm Beach, Florida, during the autumn of 2024.
Southern District of Florida District Judge Aileen M. Cannon handed down the sentence after the jury discovered Ryan guilty on all 5 counts. The prices embrace making an attempt to assassinate a major presidential candidate, assaulting a federal officer, and a number of firearms violations.

The courtroom descended into mayhem following the guilty verdict as Ryan tried to stab himself in the neck with a pen. Following his suicide attempt, officers swiftly eliminated him from the courtroom.
Throughout the proceedings, Ryan’s protection attorney, Martin Roth, requested the choose impose 20 years in prison in addition to a seven-12 months, necessary sentence for one of the gun convictions. Trial evidence revealed that U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Robert Fercano was conducting a security sweep one gap forward of Trump at the golf membership when he noticed an AK 47-type rifle aimed in his direction from a hid sniper place along the fence line bordering the course.
Authorities subsequently recovered a Norinco SKS rifle fitted with a scope, a loaded magazine holding 19 rounds of ammunition with one spherical chambered, metal armor plates, and a digicam from behind the fence.
Trump was positioned 400 to 500 yards from the armed suspect moments before the assassination attempt was stopped. Concerned for both his own security and Trump’s, Fercano opened fire on Ryan, who escaped from the situation.
Following his departure from the golf course, a witness reported observing Ryan dash across a roadway and flee in a black Nissan Xterra. Ryan was apprehended while driving northbound on I-95 by officers from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, with help from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
