Fox News confronted a backlash from viewers after host Laura Ingraham’s commentary interrupted a national anthem efficiency during the community’s coverage of Freedom 250.
The phase was linked to President Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair opening ceremony in Washington, D. C.
Promoted as a major patriotic celebration of America’s 250th birthday on the National Mall, the event shortly grew to become secondary to online outrage directed at the community’s broadcast, with quite a few viewers expressing frustration that Ingraham’s commentary was drowning out the music and festivities. It’s not the only controversy from the event, with Leonard Cohen’s property criticizing the use of one his songs in the performances.
“Please stop interrupting with Laura Ingraham. I would rather see the celebrations,” one viewer wrote in an X post directed at the Fox News host. Another viewer posted bluntly, “Shut Laura up!”
A separate remark read, “@FoxNews STOP Laura from talking and let us hear the music!!!! This was advertised as being shown on Fox! The CELEBRATION!!!!”

One annoyed viewer wrote, “@FoxNews hey Fox, would rather watch the Freedom 250 than to listen to Laura Ingram.”
“Fox! We want to listen to the person singing! Quit talking Laura,” another post said.
One viewer took explicit issue with the interruption during the national anthem itself, writing, “Song by Toby Keith but sung by someone else! By the way, LI from FoxNews was talking through the Star Spangled Banner. Very Disrespectful!” In a separate post, the same viewer commented, “Well, instead of hearing Laura Ingraham run her mouth. The best station is on YouTube. Right Side Broadcasting.”

The backlash emerged as Trump geared up to launch the Great American State Fair, an event he characterised as a huge patriotic gathering.
“We have the hottest people, the hottest everything. It’s going to be one of the best rallies we’ve ever done,” Trump said forward of the event.
At the rally, he declared, “I am thrilled to declare that America is back,” before including, “As you know very well, a short time ago we were a dead country. We were dead. Now we’re the hottest country anywhere in the world. We’re respected by everybody. Nobody’s laughing at us any more.”
The president had to make a quantity of adjustments to the event after a quantity of artists pulled out due to his involvement with the rally.
The initial performer roster featured Martina McBride, Vanilla Ice, C+C Music Factory, Morris Day, Young MC and The Commodores. Multiple artists subsequently pulled out, with some indicating the event no longer appeared nonpartisan.
“It’s going to be essentially a rally, but we’ll go at a ‘Rally to America,'” Trump said as he announced the new competition line-up. “We’re honoring the 250th, and it’s going to be something very, very special. You’re going to love it.”
