President Donald Trump took no duty for the TSA staffing disaster, a transfer closely criticized by conservatives.
On March 24, Fox News halted its common programming and live-streamed President Donald Trump as he hosted the swearing-in ceremony for Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin. After the ceremony, Trump fielded questions from reporters, during which he spoke about the current authorities shutdown.
Due to the shutdown, TSA workers have been working without pay, main to greater callout charges and long traces at a number of airports. This comes as Donald Trump breaks silence on deadly LGA crash that killed 2 pilots amid TSA chaos.
During the press briefing, a reporter requested the president, “What would be your message today to the TSA agents who have been staying home in recent days amid this impasse?”
Trump replied, “Well, some of them are needing money. You know, because the Democrats cut off their money.”
He harassed, “I blame the Democrats more than the rest.”

“But some of them, they receives a commission because they don’t seem to be paid by the Democrats. This is a new Democrat downside. I feel the polls are displaying it is a Democrat downside. They’ll do something to really damage our downside so they’ll strive to win the midterms,” he concluded.
However, viewers took to social media to slam Trump’s statements, placing the blame on the president.
One person wrote, “It’s all your mess, Mr. President. Own it for a change and pay them. You obtained money for all the things else,” before another person added, “The Democrats, along with Republicans, had a deal in place to fund TSA! Trump is the one who shut it down!”
A 3rd ranted, “That excuse is dried up! Republicans control the House, Senate, Supreme Court, and the presidency! Enough with this clown and his lies!”
Despite the president having his critics, Trump did have a supporter who agreed with him and argued, “Democrats will use the struggling of American residents in order to push their agenda. They do not care who suffers because of their insurance policies or their holdouts. It doesn’t have an effect on them!”

On March 23, President Trump announced Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents would be deployed to airports to help with the increasingly long lines at security checkpoints.
“On Monday, ICE might be going to airports to help our great TSA Agents who have stayed on the job,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “I’ll transfer our sensible and patriotic ICE Agents to the Airports where they’ll do Security like no one has ever seen before.”
Although ICE agents will not be directly involved in screening passengers, they will be used to free up TSA agents to perform the screenings they are trained to do.
“While the Democrats continue to put the security, dependability, and ease of our air journey at risk, President Trump is taking motion to deploy tons of of ICE officers, that are at present funded by Congress, to airports being adversely impacted,” the DHS spokesperson said in a assertion.
