Senator Darline Graham Nordone spoke about religion and religion, which upset viewers.
During the Fox News broadcast of Sunday Night in America on August 2, host Trey Gowdy spoke with the South Carolina senator, who has held the seat since July 14, 2026. Darline said, “I trust and believe that God has a plan. Because at first, I just kept saying, ‘Why?’ Then it was like I kept praying, and I just had this inner peace.
“I really consider that God has a plan,” she went on and closed, “I do not know what it’s. But I do know I’m not in control.”

Viewers took to social media to use Darline’s words against her. They argued that Darline is now a politician and that, as a senator, she has to be in control because her constituents depend on her.
One person, “Cringe! Really? You’re going to say out loud that you lack control? Didn’t God put you in the driving force’s seat of your own life?”
A second individual added, “She will get eaten alive with sentences like this! She is an inexperienced rookie in the U.S. Senate. We need more than good sound bites. I’m voting for somebody with a document to run on.”
A 3rd wrote, “No thanks, Darline. Sorry for your loss, but you need to keep your seat. That’s what control is. I’m voting for Ralph Norman for South Carolina Senate.”
Despite the criticism, Lindsey’s sister had a supporter who shared, “What a highly effective testimony of religion and perseverance.”

Following Lindsey’s death on July 11, Darline assumed her brother’s Senate position as an appointee to complete the remainder of his term.
Republican Gov. Henry McMaster selected her to serve until January. Darline is now in search of the nomination to succeed him in a more everlasting capability.
On July 11, the former Republican representative for South Carolina passed away following a “transient and sudden sickness. “.
Graham died unexpectedly at age 71 at his Washington residence, with preliminary findings indicating an aortic tear as the cause.
His office released a statement saying, “Senator Graham’s household appreciates prayers at this time and asks for privateness during this extremely tough period.”
On July 28, a memorial service was conducted for the late Graham at the Washington National Cathedral, where President Donald Trump, 80, delivered the eulogy.
He was also honored at a Capitol Rotunda ceremony in Washington, D.C.
