When Owen Kline was barely an adolescent, he starred in one of many biggest coming-of-age films of all time, Noah Baumbach's movie The Squid and the Whale. Playing the brother of Jesse Eisenberg's character and the son of Jeff Bridges and Laura Linney's, Kline was understandably overshadowed by the immense expertise round him. Nearly 20 years later (after a slew of strange quick movies and comedian strips, and aiding the Safdie brothers), he's again along with his personal coming-of-age dramedy, writing and directing the uncomfortably humorous, fascinating movie Funny Pages.
