Gavin Newsom helps clear homeless encampment…
California Gov. Gavin Newsom has made it identified he needs to clean up homeless encampments — and will attempt to do so when it includes one of his celeb pals.
Text messages just lately obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle show the Democratic governor’s workplace stepped in to help soccer participant Marshawn Lynch, who co-hosted a podcast with Newsom and whose agent is a buddy of the governor.

More than 311 requests had been despatched to Oakland metropolis officers from neighbors to clear up the Dover Street encampment where an RV, camper and SUV arrived in 2024 and backed up into the freeway. Lynch’s request, however, appeared to have gotten specific consideration.
“I got a call from the Governor’s office regarding a number of RVs that are parked out in front of Marshawn Lynch’s family home,” texted the chief of employees of then-Mayor Sheng Thao, who last 12 months was indicted on federal bribery prices. “The Governor’s office is requesting our support to help resolve the issues in a timely manner.”

Four days later, the chief of employees bugged Oakland metropolis directors again, saying Newsom’s workplace had checked back on the state of affairs. Leigh Hanson, the chief of employees, famous pit bulls had taken over the road around the property.
City directors responded by offering to ship in animal control and to taking steps toward declaring an emergency encampment enclosure that would keep away from a 72-hour discover. Discussion about the encampment ended after that.
The stress from Newsom, however, didn’t appear to pace issues up. A spokesperson for the town of Oakland told the Chronicle that a few months later, the encampment had moved on by itself to close by tons managed by the state transportation division.
Lynch declined to remark. Newsom’s workplace said in a assertion to the Chronicle that it routinely raised considerations with Thao on encampment points “because the former mayor wasn’t moving with any urgency.”

Newsom has personally helped Lynch in the past before. In 2012, then-Lt. Gov. Newsom called National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell to vouch for Lynch after the star was going through self-discipline for a DUI arrest.
The governor’s anti-encampment place has made it one of the few points Newsom has discovered common ground on with conservative politicians.
However, The California Post beforehand reported that river encampments in Newsom’s own yard weren’t cleaned up.
