Gogglebox couple Giles Wood and Mary eliminateen had a bit of a bicker on a new episode of the Channel 4 show on Friday night. The fan-favourites had been watching Josie Gibson’s latest show How to Clean Up for Cash as half of their TV schedule.

The programme sees the This Morning star secretly infiltrate the houses of muddle culprits, box up their beloved belongings and get then prepares to promote the lot. The Goggleboxers had been all horrified to see that a new mum, who had spent most of her life gathering a large quantity of modern objects, had only been supplied a mere £2,000 for the lot. While most of the Channel 4 households had been outraged by what they had been watching, it instead sparked inspiration for Giles who then pitched his new concept to his partner, Mary.

He said: “I’m going to call this programme up while you’re in London,” hinting at getting rid of some of their possessions.

Mary rapidly quipped back as she threatened that he would need to pack his luggage too, replying: “Well you won’t be living here yourself afterwards.”

As rapidly as ever he then retaliated. “But I am also going to have an armed guard when you come back.” Both remained stony-faced as the programme continued.

The creatives have been on the show for the last 9 years, giving viewers a glimpse into their relationship and home.

While many people imagine they’ve a glad marriage, after tying the knot more than 30 years in the past, the couple has admitted that it is not all plain crusing.

Giles beforehand admitted that working on Gogglebox “saved their marriage.” The pair documented their ideas and emotions about each other in journal entries, which they shared with MailOnline a few years back.

He wrote: “Working together on Gogglebox – watching telly at the same time – meant Mary and I all of a sudden no longer lived like two intimate strangers,” highlighting their misaligned daily schedules as a purpose for their drift. “It has undoubtedly saved our marriage.”

Mary added: “While we wait for each Gogglebox programme to begin, we end up chatting to each other, amounting to about three hours a week in total.

“But we had acquired out of the behavior of discussing issues. Gradually, we realised we had been having fun with the Gogglebox preambles – certainly, they grew to become an important cog in the wheels of our marriage because we had to take it in turns to communicate. And then we realised that we had a big quantity in common.”
