Golf star turns down PGA Tour card to rejoin LIV | Golf News

Laurie Canter did the surprising by declining a PGA Tour card, which he earned through the DP World Tour, selecting instead to return to the Saudi-backed LIV Golf circuit for the second time in his profession.

Canter is making a comeback to LIV Golf after collaborating in the tour from 2022 to 2024. He later performed on the DP World Tour and secured his PGA Tour card, but has determined to forego this alternative.

In preparation for the 2026 LIV Golf season, Canter has also signed with Majesticks GC. Currently ranked sixtieth in the OWGR, he boasts two DP World Tour victories at the 2024 European Open and the 2025 Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship.

He concluded the 2025 season with an spectacular seventh place end on the DP World Tours’ Order of Merit, Race to Dubai, incomes him the PGA Tour card. However, he is chosen to return to LIV.

“Joining Majesticks GC is an incredible opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one,” Canter expressed.

“The league’s growth has been remarkable and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour.”

“To return to the league with Majesticks GC is a huge honor, and they bring a standard of excellence, ambition, and identity that really resonates with me. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to what this team is building.”

Team captains James Dunkley and Oliver Banks expressed their enthusiasm about Canter’s signing, highlighting both his abilities and how nicely he matches with Majesticks GC’s imaginative and prescient.

“Laurie is an extremely strong competitor who elevates everyone around him,” Dunkley said. “His dedication to preparation, his professionalism, and the consistency he’s shown at the highest levels make him a perfect match for what we’re building. We’ve been a huge admirer of Laurie for a long time, and the timing for 2026 couldn’t be better.”

Banks chimed in, saying, “Beyond his talent, Laurie brings a mindset and personality that align with our long-term vision for the Majesticks. He connects with fans, brings humility and hunger, and he represents the modern direction of our team. We believe he’s going to thrive in this environment and help push us toward the results we’re determined to achieve.”

With Canter heading to LIV Golf, it seems that Daniel Brown will probably secure his PGA Tour card for 2026 as he’s next up in the 2025 Race to Dubai rankings.

The Majestcks crew has had a tough experience since LIV Golf kicked off in 2022, ending sixth in the inaugural season before slipping to eleventh place in 2023 and 2024.
