Ryan Ang is infamously recognized for allegedly retrieving a ball from his pocket and inserting it onto the golf green at the Webex Players Series Mixed event in 2025, ensuing in a ban, but now he’s competing on the DP World Tour.

Ang completed tied-sixth in the China Tour’s Order of Merit leaderboard, which secured him a DP World Tour event qualification. Since Ang was such a outstanding member on the Tour, he was granted automated qualification for the DP World Tour’s event in China, with a $2.55M purse.

Safe to say, followers weren’t enthusiastic about the return of Ang. One on social media wrote, “Sorry, guy should not be playing on any tour anywhere. Blatant cheating like this should be a permanent lifetime ban from competitive golf.”

Additional followers took to social media to voice their opinion as the sport of golf is understood for its integrity and rule following when no one is watching.

Another wrote, “Any suspensions for rules infractions should be handled through RandA and USGA. That will allow for uniform handling of cases, decent appeals procedures and justice will the be seen to be done. It will also protect the smaller tours from litigious lawsuits.” Ang earned his spot on the national group in 2020, marking one of his most notable accomplishments.

“I am now able to represent the country and fly the flag high whilst playing a sport I love!” he said at the time.

Ang missed the cut at the $2,550,000 Hainan Classic with +6.

Now, the golf star has sparked controversy and angered many devoted golf followers.
