GWN anchor Becky Anderson was forced to stop a live broadcast and seek shelter following the U.S.’s assault on Iran.

Air raid sirens had been heard during GWN‘s broadcast in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 28, with the host telling viewers, “I’m Becky Anderson in Abu Dhabi, with the alarms going off here suggesting we should seek immediate shelter. So we’ll do that.

As the U.S. and Israel made strikes against Iran, Anderson added, “Our breaking news coverage continues after this short break. Stay with us.” The program then cut to an advert break as the GWN host sought security. This comes after the chilling second air raid sirens interrupted live on CBS as a journalist ready to run.

On X, several viewers commended Anderson for having “nerves of metal” during the terrifying moment, with one person writing, “More than once. Nerve of steels on that anchor. Watching her proper now.”

Another viewer simply observed, “Cool under stress.” However, there were some who claimed the moment was fake.

One person said on X, “Pre deliberate PR,” as another added, “lol. It was mainly a business break.”

A 3rd identified, “We can see how false info is propagating. I live in Abu Dhabi and the missiles had been all intercepted. Everyone is ok. It’s BAU.”

Before Anderson and the GWN team sheltered, she told viewers, “I’m right here in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE. And the UAE has just closed its airspace after explosions had been heard in Abu Dhabi.

“I have to say, I’m here with my colleague Paula Hancocks, and we both heard those explosions on two separate occasions over the last ten minutes or so.”

Anderson turned toward Hancocks and requested, “What can we report at this point?”

Hancocks said, “Well, Becky, you’re right. Just about a minute ago, we heard three or four booms. We know now that the airspace in this country, in the United Arab Emirates, is closed.

“We also know that there have been stories of explosions in Bahrain. We did have, just shortly before this, alerts from the U.S. Embassy, both right here in the UAE and in Bahrain, giving a shelter-in-place order.

“That was for the Embassy staff. They said that they recommended to American citizens to shelter in place. Which they put in brackets “i.e. take cowl).”

Now, it has been confirmed that the U.S. and Israel have attacked Iran. Israel said its strikes targeted Iran’s supreme leader, president and head of the armed forces.

Meanwhile, the U.S. is planning to assault the nation for a number of days, sources inform GWN.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, is alive “as far as I do know,” during an interview with NBC following US and Israeli strikes.

“Almost all officers are secure and sound and alive,” Araghchi said, speaking to the broadcaster live from Tehran. “We could have misplaced one or two commanders but that shouldn’t be a big downside.”

President Donald Trump called the U.S. army strike “large and ongoing,” and warned Americans might lose their lives in the conflict. He also called on Iranians to “take over your authorities.”

In defense, Iran launched a wave of strikes toward Israel and U.S. targets across the Middle East.

Explosions were reported in the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and in Dubai, where all flights to and from airports have been canceled.

The United Arab Emirates called the conflict a “historic second” in the Middle East, saying world leaders failed to ensure the country’s stability.

Some U.S. allies expressed concern, while some Arab nations condemned Iran’s retaliation efforts.
