Lead Washington anchor Jake Tapper slammed a guest speaker for their response to Savannah Guthrie’s emotional interview.

On March 27, the GWN anchor drew a strong online response to feedback by Fox News guest, Stuart Kaplan. The former FBI agent mentioned Savannah’s emotional interview with co-anchor Hoda Kotb on the Today Show. The NBC star spoke about her 87-year-old mom, Nancy Guthrie, who has been reported lacking from her home in Arizona since February 1.

Tapper defended Guthrie after Kaplan claimed she misplaced credibility due to her interview. It comes after a thriller man who claimed he “saw Nancy 5 days ago” provided chilling new proof.

While reposting Kaplan’s phase on The Five, Tapper wrote at first, “This is truly depraved. Savannah’s and her family’s pain isn’t fun and glib ‘content,'” before harshly accusing Kaplan of fabricating untruths.

He continued, “For the love of God, the irresponsible speculation and just making sh– up and acting like details never revealed before suggests a conspiracy is sick and inhuman.”

During Fox News’ March 26 broadcast, Kaplan spoke with The Five host Jesse Watters and slammed Guthrie for revealing new particulars about the night time her mom was kidnapped. He claimed, “I’ll just say this to you that this interview, I don’t assume, helped the investigation,” Kaplan continued. “In fact, if anything, I think it may have hurt.”

He continued, “I think it also may have hurt their credibility because there are just things that just, quite frankly, don’t add up. And statistically, these cases generally lead back to someone who’s within that inner circle.”

Even Watters was shocked by Kaplan’s comments and reacted, “Wow, that’s a strong assertion, Stuart,” before asking, “Why would this interview hurt the investigation?”

Kaplan continued, “I’m not saying that it hurts the investigation. But I do believe that less is more, because the more information you let out to the general public, and obviously, there is an individual, at least one individual, because we saw them on that Ring doorbell. It gives that person an opportunity to backtrack and perhaps cover his or her tracks.”

He added, “And so, what my suggestion would be is that less is more. Allow the investigation to run its course. I don’t see any benefit to Savannah Guthrie going on national TV and kind of, you know, opening herself up.”

Earlier that day, Guthrie had a sit-down with Kotb, which aired on NBC. Nancy’s daughter broke down in tears and cried, “I wake up every night, in the middle of the night, every night, and in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought.”

She continued, “We thought that she must have had some kind of medical episode in the night, and that somehow the paramedics had come because the back doors were propped open, and that didn’t make any sense.”

Savannah went on to describe the second when police first arrived at her mom’s home. She explained, “We thought maybe they came, and there was a stretcher, and they took her out the back. But her phone was there, and her purse was there, and all her things. And it just didn’t make any sense.”
