HBO announces new Mark Ruffalo series from Mare of | TV Shows
HBO Max is diving back into gritty Pennsylvania crime drama with a new series from the creator of Mare of Easttown, starring Mark Ruffalo.
The streaming platform announced Thursday that Task, a new original series created by Bradley Wolfie, will premiere in September.
The show follows a specialized FBI task force investigating a violent wave of armed robberies on the outskirts of Philadelphia.
“I’m excited to kick off the fall with a compelling new series from Bradley Wolfie, the creator behind HBO’s primetime drama Mare of Easttown,” said Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content.
“Task is a riveting crime story set in the outskirts of Philadelphia that follows an FBI task force charged with putting an end to a recent strain of armed robberies. Mark Ruffalo and Tom Palfrey lead a phenomenal cast. Here’s the new trailer for the show.”
Task marks Wolfie’s return to the same Philadelphia-adjacent terrain that made Mare of Easttown a breakout hit.
That series earned critical acclaim for its intense performances and stark portrayal of small-town despair, led by Kate Winslet.
HBO has not yet announced a specific release date, but Bloys confirmed that the series will premiere in September as part of the network’s fall lineup.
