Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has promised that the U.S. will “dominate” space in a speech at the Blue Origin facility in Florida on Monday.
Speaking from the Jeffrey Bezos-owned facility, Hegseth praised aerospace staff and promised to define a brand-new, aggressive imaginative and prescient for American space forces. It was reported that the administration is pushing to speed up the manufacturing of the protection industrial base and total army readiness as threats from China, Russia, and Iran all appear to rise.
“What you’re building here is a core function of the arsenal of freedom,” Hegseth said, pointing to the Blue Origin New Shepard launch vehicle and the Blue Origin Moon lander. According to the War Secretary, the company is equipping warfighters “at the tip of the spear” with cutting-edge capabilities.
Hegseth then attacked former President Joe Biden, citing all the supposed failures, accusing him of outsourcing important capabilities, tolerating bloated protection contracts, and permitting adversaries to problem American strength. “Those days are over,” Hegseth announced.
“Urgency matters. American strength has to partner with American manufacturing,” he added. “If you don’t have both, you don’t have a free country.”
The secretary touted that under President Donald Trump, space dominance is a top precedence. Under the president’s Big Beautiful Bill, $150 billion had been accredited for protection modernization and $25 billion for the proposed “Golden Dome” missile protection system.
According to Hegseth, the protection would rely closely on space-based sensors and interceptors to detect and neutralize threats before they attain U.S. airspace. Hegeseth commented that the U.S. would have “total orbital supremacy.”
“No more business as usual,” he said. “We will unleash our companies, unleash industry, unleash the competitive spirit that allows America to come out on top.”
Hegesth concluded his speech by stating that under Trump, “the golden age of American dominance is only just beginning.”
