Hilary Clinton will not be mincing her phrases when talking about the 2024 election.

“He made a terrible mistake,” she said bluntly, talking about former president Joe Biden’s choice to run for reelection in the 2024 race.

“He made a terrible mistake for himself, his legacy, and for the country,” the previous secretary of state said while talking with The New Yorker’s David Remnick at the 92nd Street Y in New York City this week.

She went on, “He had said that he would not run again and, you know, counterfactual narratives are always a bit tricky, but I believe if he had kept to that plan and said that the late summer of 2023, that he wasn’t going to run, that he was going to pass the torch to the next generation, we would have had a real contest.”

Referring to former Vice President Kamala Harris’s brutal loss in 2024, she said, “Very sadly, I believe whoever emerged from that contest, whether it was the vice president or a governor or a senator or anybody else, would have beaten Donald Trump.”

She doubled down on her declare. “I think it was a terrible miscalculation on the part of President Biden. Once he didn’t move and did not admit that he had said he was going to step aside and then decided not to and held on for as long as he did, we were in a terrible dilemma.”

Another acknowledged, “It was also a terrible miscalculation for the Democratic Party to try and suppress Bernie Sanders in 2016. We may not even be here right now if they didn’t do that. There is plenty of blame to go around. When are we going to stop blaming and taking action? Riddle me that?”

By the time Biden withdrew from the competition in late July 2024, the bulk of major elections have been already over. With only 4 months remaining until the overall election, Kamala Harris, the vice president, grew to become the presumptive nominee for the Democrats.

Clinton noticed a vital weak point in Harris’ run, telling Remnick that as the sitting vice president, Harris was primarily silenced.
