Despite staring down a report Ryder Cup deficit heading into the ultimate day of motion at Bethpage Black, Keegan Bradley’s Team USA can still win the forty fifth version of the distinguished event.

Saturday noticed a chaotic afternoon of golf unfold in New York, with Luke Donald’s Team Europe dominating proceedings. There was lots of pressure out on the course, which noticed the pair of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry endure horrendous abuse from followers at Bethpage Black, while Bryson DeChambeau misplaced his cool in his match with Scottie Scheffler against Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood.

Come the end of the day, Europe put themselves in a commanding place, up 11.5-4.5 – a record-breaking lead heading into the ultimate day singles.

However, despite this, the U.S. can still win the Ryder Cup. While it’s going to take a miracle to do so, there are 12 factors left to play for on Sunday.

Team Europe wants just 2.5 factors out of 12 to retain the trophy, having beforehand gained the Ryder Cup in 2023 in Rome. They need three factors to win the Ryder Cup outright.

For America to win the Ryder Cup, they need to win 10 factors out of the remaining 12.

The motion will get underway on Sunday afternoon at 12:02 p.m. ET, with Justin Rose and Cameron Young dealing with off in the opening singles match. They are adopted out on to the course at Bethpage Black by Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas, before Matt Fitzpatrick and Bryson DeChambeau take the stage.

The largest match-up of the afternoon will get underway at 12:35 p.m. ET, with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler taking part in against each other.

Ludvig Aberg, Jon Rahm, Sepp Straka and Shane Lowry will comply with McIlroy, taking on Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun and Russell Henley respectively.

Bradley himself has likened a potential comeback for Team USA to the New England Patriots 28-3 Super Bowl comeback against the Atlanta Falcons back in 2017. “28-3. I was at that Super Bowl. I watched it,” Bradley said while talking to reporters following Saturday’s motion. “What a cool thing to have witnessed live in person.”

He added: “I think anytime at a Ryder Cup the captain is to blame or to be celebrated. So we all have to do a better job, but most importantly I have to do a better job as a captain.”
