Mills was abruptly pulled off the air last week and changed by Gary Davies after allegations have been made over his “personal conduct.” Now, Showbiz reporter Ed Gleave has revealed how the presenter was feeling just weeks before he was fired by the Beeb.

During an look on the Patrick Christys show, he shared Mills’ stunning feedback about his profession while attending a glamorous event. He started: “I interviewed him about six weeks ago at an event, and we were talking about all the different reality shows he’s doing and has done in the past.

“And he said that he takes every alternative he will get because he desires to make the most of his profession. He said, ‘You just do not know when it is going to end,’ and when somebody of his calibre says that, you assume ‘They’ll be fantastic’, but clearly six weeks later his profession appears to be just about over.

“There’s a real irony that he had that in the back of his mind, and then it did actually come true,” he concluded. Patrick argued that this is yet another major scandal for the company in latest years, leaving its future at risk.

Ed went on: “It’s not good for the BBC. The Huw Edwards stuff is still very, very recent in living memory, and there’s been lots of talk about that in the last couple of weeks, and now Scott Mills – another big name.

“These aren’t just people that work in the BBC someplace; these are among their greatest names that are getting caught out and being uncovered in this means.

“It’s really serious for the BBC. It’s possible that, because of what’s happened in the past, they’re taking action more quickly and being tougher when they think there’s a problem.

“They’re maybe taking it more significantly than they’ve in the past as a satan’s advocate form of reply. But the BBC PR staff, I suspect, is having a fairly dangerous day; this is just not a good time for the BBC.”

It is believed BBC bosses are having crisis talks about Mills’ replacement, with a source telling the Mirror: “It’s like a bomb has been dropped in the center of the company… all the pieces has been thrown up into the air.” Mills, who has labored for the BBC for more than 25 years, is yet to remark on his sudden axe.
