Ian Poulter could have been missed for the Ryder Cup, but {the golfing} legend is not permitting that setback to derail his mission to assist his son’s Walker Cup preparations.

The 49-year-old boasts unmatched expertise in the biennial showdown, having suited up for Team Europe on seven separate events. Poulter emerged victorious an astounding 5 instances and maintains an excellent 15-8-2 event document.

The LIV Golf standout also holds an unblemished singles streak with a 6-0-1 mark spanning his 17-year Ryder Cup profession. He’s benefited from his father’s presence, with the elder Poulter seen chatting with him on the course and observing his observe classes. “He’s coming out this week, so I think it will be pretty cool for him to give us some insight and help us on our way,” he said.

When requested if his dad has already given him phrases of knowledge on how to take on Team USA, he answered: “We talk about it a bit… but there’s not much to it. It’s just kind of play your own game really, that’s about it.

“I’m sure we’ll chat about it this week a little bit more, and he’ll perhaps give some advice to the group. I’ve bought my mum, my dad, my brother, and my grandad flying over, plus my agent, my coaches – I’ve bought a few people coming, so it is going to be a great week.”

Poulter Sr.’s passion for the Ryder Cup is legendary, and it was 2021 when he revealed how his initial experience of the tournament transformed his existence.

“I performed soccer [soccer] as a child. I liked being half of a group all the way back then,” he said. “That did not occur for me, so I turned to golf.

“Right from 2004, to put that shirt over my head really kind of changed my life from a golfer’s perspective. I’ve made more friends, closer friends at the Ryder Cup than I have in all of the years that I’ve ever been playing an individual game of golf.”
