Im being harrassed about an explicit video that I…

DEAR ABBY: A few years in the past, I began receiving mysterious cellphone calls from a man claiming to have in his possession videos of me performing inappropriate acts. I have no idea where he would have gotten one thing like that. I modified my cellphone quantity, but someway he received my new quantity and began harassing me again.

After a while, the cellphone calls stopped, and I haven’t obtained one in years. Recently, I was despatched a request on Facebook by a lady with no profile info who then despatched me a message saying one thing about a video and accosting me with inappropriate language. I have since deleted all my social media accounts.

My query is: What if there’s some video I have no data of, and how do I deal with it if somebody decides to leak it? — SCARED AND EMBARRASSED

DEAR SCARED AND EMBARRASSED: What has been occurring to you quantities to harassment and blackmail. That is why you need to notify the police about what has been going on. I significantly doubt that there’s a video. (The complete factor might be a rip-off.)

If there’s one and it’s leaked, I suggest that you maintain your head high and say to anybody who mentions it that yes, like most of the grownup population in the world, you, too, have a intercourse life. At least then you’ll know who filmed it, and you’ll be able to share that further info with the authorities.

DEAR ABBY: I am 70. My sister is 68, and her husband is 80. He has kidney failure and wants 24/7 care. Our mom is 98. She lives independently in a condominium and is mentally totally useful, but she will be able to’t cook or do housekeeping anymore. (She has cleansing help.)

My sister and I take turns making Mom heat meals, and my sister also does some mild housekeeping. It takes one to two hours. My sister does this thrice a week while her husband is at dialysis at a close by facility. She also has my mom’s medical and financial powers of attorney and prefers to be the one to take care of issues.

I am in pretty good health but have some medical points that could finally make it troublesome (or even not possible) to journey. This fall, I plan to go to Europe for three weeks. I would love to have somebody come in to help my mother thrice a week while I am gone. I would introduce this particular person forward of time so that Mom may get to know them and I may show them what wants to be performed.

Unfortunately, Mom doesn’t need anybody other than my sister and me to care for her. My sister’s plate is already more than full, so I don’t need to add to it. Is it unreasonable of me to anticipate my mom to settle for exterior help? — PERPLEXED IN PENNSYLVANIA

DEAR PERPLEXED: Your plan shouldn’t be unreasonable, but it’s common for somebody your mom’s age to resist change. Remind her that the clock is ticking on your journey alternatives, and emphasize that the association is only short-term. Tell her you’ll call to examine in while you’re away, and promise to deliver back tons of photographs and tales to share with her when you resume your regular caregiving routine.
