Iran has accused President Donald Trump of mendacity as the nation dismisses a U.S. plan for renewed peace talks.

While aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump announced that he called off what he said would have been “massive strikes on the Country.” He claimed that Iran “knew the extent of the attack because they saw it forming”, including: “We’re talking to them in the form of a negotiation. It begins tomorrow afternoon.”

In an earlier Truth Social post, the president said he had been requested by Iran and U.S. allies in the Middle East to “hold off” as the “perimeters” of a deal had been agreed upon. However, Iran’s international ministry denied on Monday that it was negotiating with the U.S. or had any plans to do so.

Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that Tehran was negotiating with Oman to attain “an understanding over a path to ensure the security of shipping passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”

Iran’s semi-official news company, Mehr, denied that Tehran had requested the U.S. to maintain off on additional army motion, calling Trump’s claims “nothing but a new lie.”

Previous talks between the U.S. and Iran have been facilitated through mediators. President Trump has repeatedly promised that a negotiated end to the struggle was close to, only for strikes to continue.

In his remarks on Air Force One, the president declined to define a deadline for a deal to be struck with Tehran, including: “We’ll just see how it is. We’re ready to go anytime we want… I’m not looking to kill people.”

Trump did not specify where the talks on Monday can be held or who would attend.

He added that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman — as effectively as U.S. companions such as the United Arab Emirates and Qatar — had urged him against going through the strikes over the weekend.

“We were all set to go,” said Trump. “The reason they asked is [that] they think there’s a deal,” he said. “There’s a deal on Hormuz, and there will be a deal on the nuclear.”

He claimed the deliberate strikes would have been “the biggest attack since World War II,” and may have derailed prospects of a negotiated end to the struggle.

When requested if he had deliberate to strike Iranian power infrastructure, Trump refused to reply.

Such an act would have been thought of a struggle crime, according to worldwide law consultants.

Iran’s performing Defense Minister Majid Ibn al-Reza said Tehran considered every menace from its adversaries as “real and credible,” even if it fashioned half of psychological warfare. “We will neither be caught off guard nor remain passive,” he added.
