The U.S. faces new chilling threats from the Iranian regime for its mounting navy presence in the Middle East, following President Trump’s ducking of questions about navy sources being stretched in the area.
“The USS Gerald Ford, which is sprinting from the Caribbean to the Middle East, is about to hit its eight-month deployment mark. Usually, they’re deployed for about 6 months. Is there any concern that U.S. carriers are being stretched too thin?” a reporter requested.
“ I’ll answer the question later,” Trump responded.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a direct warning to the USS Gerald Ford on Tuesday declaring that there may be a “more dangerous weapon” that may ship “that warship to the bottom of the sea,” as talks to avert conflict between Iran and the U.S. are being held in Geneva.
“The Americans constantly say that they’ve sent a warship toward Iran. Of course, a warship is a dangerous piece of military hardware. However, more dangerous than that warship is the weapon that can send that warship to the bottom of the sea,” Khamenei wrote on X.
The USS Abraham Lincoln plane service and three guided-missile destroyers arrived in the Middle East more than two weeks in the past half of an “armada” of warships Trump declared had been despatched to Iran.
“Like with Venezuela, it is ready, willing, and able to rapidly fulfill its mission, with speed and violence, if necessary,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post weeks in the past.
It marks a fast turnaround for the USS Ford, which Trump despatched from the Mediterranean Sea to the Caribbean last October as the administration construct up a big navy presence in the leadup to the shock raid last month that captured then-Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Last week, Trump ordered the USS Gerald Ford to the area, making it the second service deployed in the area.
