ITV viewers are demanding another instalment of The Dark after the chilling crime-drama got here to an end on Monday evening (July 27). The series, which takes half across the Scottish Highlands follows DI Monica Kennedy (Laura Donnelly) and DC Conor Crawford (Mark Rowley) making an attempt to catch a serial killer.
With their victims being younger boys, ITV followers have been hooked as each episode resulted in suspicions shifting on who the killer could possibly be. In the end, it was headteacher Kyle Ward (Brain Ferguson). Although the ‘whodunnit’ side got here to a close, as it was also revealed Kyle had help from the brother of a sufferer, the series got here to an end with a dramatic cliffhanger.
Throughout the six-episodes, followers have been studying small snippets of Monica’s past.
It was talked about a few occasions that she was concerned in the Burning Light cult and had a younger daughter called Lucy with the chief.
While she’s managed to escape the cult, it seems as though her past it catching up with her as the episode ended with a letter being addressed to Lucy.

People have been fast to remark on the major cliffhanger, with many demanding there be another series, studies the Mirror.
One particular person said: “Ooo I do hope there will be another series of #TheDark it was a really good show.” Someone else shared: ” Give me another series of that please, ITV #TheDark.”
Another commented: “With that ending 100% a 2nd series is coming.” A fourth shared: ” What the f**k noooo it can’t end like that!?????!!!!”
Speaking to The Mirror about Monica’s unknown background, Laura said: “Monica’s whole backstory, the way it has shaped who she is, there are still, even as we finish season one, there are still tonnes of question marks about that, and a long, long way to explore.

“I actually like how Matt [Hartley], our author, selected to tempo that, because I believe sometimes when you watch, it occurs notably with detective reveals, is that the writers often appear very eager to make it actually clear that this particular person has so a lot else going on in the background, and we discover out all about it and we get the reason of who they’re in a short time. And that’s not how you get to know people in real life.”
Meanwhile, Mark Rowley, who plays DC Conor Crawford, added: “It’s good just to extend that, to keep the viewers hooked in for longer to be like, ‘Okay, what’s actually going on right here?’
“It’s fascinating, right? Because I don’t know any of the other detective [shows] that [have] explored a character like that. So, to have someone so strong and then have such a held back vulnerability that you don’t know much about. You’re like, ‘Come on, season… whatever season, let me [see]. Show it!'”
