Angel Cabrera has been eradicated from the Masters after posting a 16-over rating, ending second to last in the sphere.

The 2009 champion at Augusta National delivered a dismal 9-over spherical on Friday following his opening rating of 79 on Thursday. His second spherical included double bogeys on holes 8 and 13, plus a triple bogey on 15. It marked a catastrophic efficiency for the previous champion, who had attended Rory McIlroy’s dinner on Tuesday.

“Obviously I regret things that happened and you learn from them, but at the same time those are in the past and we have to look forward what’s coming.”

When questioned if he believed he ought to be at Augusta National, he responded: “I won the Masters, why not?”

One of Cabrera’s former girlfriends claimed she was “physically, psychologically, and inappropriately abused” during their relationship. Another earlier associate of Cabrera was a sufferer of assault.

Upon his return last 12 months, Jamie Klingler, co-founder of the advocacy group “Reclaim These Streets”, strongly opposed his participation. “It seems as long as male athletes can excel at hitting a ball,” she said. “We excuse those same men hitting women.”
