Jake Paul gives surgery update after brutal | Boxing News

Jake Paul has revealed that he shall be compelled to eat his meals through a straw following surgery for a damaged jaw. The American boxer sustained the extreme injury during his defeat to Anthony Joshua, which was ended halfway through the sixth spherical, in Miami on Friday.

The British heavyweight knocked out his adversary in the sixth spherical, leaving Paul visibly bloodied before the referee called time on the match. Paul has since taken to social media to affirm that he has undergone corrective surgery and shall be unable to eat stable food for at least a week.

He posted: “Just got out of surgery. Everything went smooth. Thanks for all the love. Lots of pain and stiffness. Gotta eat liquids for 7 days S/o to the amazing team at Miami University hospital. Everyone was so gracious and caring.”

Paul’s latest update follows a earlier post where he shared an x-ray image clearly exhibiting his shattered jawbone. Despite this, he’s already keen to prepare his next struggle, including alongside the image: “Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days.”

Due to his injury, Paul was unable to fulfil his post-fight press obligations, lacking the next press convention. However, Nikisa Bidarian, CEO of Paul’s promoters Most Valuable Promotions, reassured followers, stating: “He’s fine. He drove himself to the hospital. A broken jaw’s very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA.”

“I think the recovery time from the doctors and surgeons we’ve already talked to is four to six weeks.” However, Paul did offer some insight during an interview. He said: “I’m feeling good, that was fun. I love this sport. I gave it my all… I had a blast. Anthony’s a great fighter, I got my ass beat but that’s what this sport’s about.”

“I think my jaw is broke by the way… it’s definitely broke. A nice ass-whooping from one of the best to ever do it. We’re going to heal the broken jaw, fight someone my weight and go for the cruiserweight world title. I’m going to take a little break. I’ve been going hard for six years.”

Whilst Paul is now getting ready to step away from boxing briefly, the same can’t be said for British boxing sensation Joshua. He wasted no time in difficult Tyson Fury following his victory over Paul, though the 37 yr outdated has yet to reply to the call-out.
