James Comey and Letitia James Victory Laps Might | Political News
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is reportedly contemplating pursuing new indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) after a federal choose dismissed their prior fees in November.
Comey had been indicted in late September for making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional investigation. James was indicted in early October for bank fraud and making false statements to a financial establishment. Both pleaded not guilty.
Judge Cameron McGowan Currie, as RedState reported last week, dismissed both circumstances while ruling that the interim U.S. Attorney who introduced the costs, Lindsey Halligan, was unconstitutionally appointed.
The ruling was not based on the deserves of the case. But that did not stop Comey from declaring, “I’m innocent.”
James was even more celebratory in her remarks, stating, “I remain fearless in the face of these baseless charges as I continue fighting for New Yorkers every single day.”
But the victory laps for the duo might have been untimely. GWN is reporting that the DOJ “could seek new charges against Comey and James as soon as this week.”

GWN, citing sources acquainted with the state of affairs at the DOJ, experiences that an indictment against Comey could possibly be introduced by the end of this week. At the same time, it is less clear how swiftly James’ indictment is likely to be introduced.
Still, the outlet notes that “no matter what, prosecutors will likely present new indictments” against the pair to grand juries in the Eastern District of Virginia.
FBI Director Kash Patel, in an interview with the Epoch Times last week, signaled that while the DOJ was interesting the dismissal, Comey may still be going through “numerous options to proceed” in bringing him to justice.
“So we’re not done,” Patel predicted. “I would say stay tuned for right after Thanksgiving, and you’ll see multiple responses, in my opinion.”

Comey had insisted during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in September of 2020 that he had not “licensed another person at the FBI to be an nameless source in news experiences” relating to the Trump Russia investigation.
His former deputy, Andrew McCabe, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) acknowledged during the listening to, had “publicly and repeatedly acknowledged that he leaked data to the Wall Street Journal and that you had been instantly conscious of it and that you instantly licensed it.”
Challenged with the query of who was mendacity based on those contradictions, Comey said he stands by his testimony that he had “never authorized anyone to leak.”
President Trump, talking within hours of Comey’s initial indictment, claimed the disgraced former director bought himself into hassle by making a false assertion.
Comey and McCabe’s statements are irreconcilably contradictory.
Whoever is mendacity under oath is committing a federal crime — and that’s what Comey has been indicted for.

Meanwhile, James’ indictment centered on allegations of mortgage fraud, with evidence suggesting she made false or deceptive statements in property information and loan functions.
