Actor James Woods grew to become visibly emotional during a live tv interview as he mirrored on how the late Rob Reiner ‘saved his profession’. The Ray Donovan and Hercules star went on Fox News to focus on his friendship with the legendary movie director, who was tragically killed along with his spouse at their Los Angeles residence on Sunday.

Rob, 78, and his spouse Michele, 68, had been found deceased with deadly stab wounds at their Brentwood property on Sunday afternoon. Their 32 yr outdated son Nick is at present being held in connection with the deaths. He was initially detained on a $4million bail, which was subsequently revoked after LA’s Chief of Police announced that he had been “booked for murder”.

This morning, James Woods – who collaborated with Rob on the 1996 movie Ghosts of Mississippi – struggled to maintain back tears while discussing their friendship, despite having opposing political opinions. Rob was identified as a liberal activist and outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, whereas James is a vocal supporter of the US chief. During his Fox News look, James revealed : “At a very down point in my career, Rob literally saved my career and really put me back on track in a way that was so important and rewarding in my life. He really fought for me when the studio didn’t want me in a movie.”, studies the Mirror.

“I was 32 years too young for the part, but he really believed that I was right and could do it. Virtually nobody agreed with except for one of his partners…We did Ghosts of Mississippi together and I went from being out of a job to getting an Academy Award nomination.”

He continued: “We had a different path to the same destination, which was a country we both love. When people would say terrible things to me on social media about him, I’d say, ‘You’ve got it all wrong.'”

“He was a real thinker when you had a chance to talk to him and a lot people just don’t think anymore. We’re talking about a tragedy here – about Rob and Michele – two extraordinary, lovely people. Michele did in Rob’s life what Rob did in my life at a time when I needed him. All I’ve ever said about Rob Reiner is that he’s someone I love, respect and cherish.”

James revealed he “fell to the floor” upon studying from a buddy that Rob and Michele had been killed. “You know when you can’t breathe?” he explained. “I fell to the floor. I felt my heart drop. I just thought what Tracy’s going to go through, the children, the family.” Growing visibly upset, James said: “When people say horrible things about Rob right now, I find it quite frankly infuriating and distasteful. Did I agree with his politics? I did not. Did I love him as a friend, as an artist, as an icon of Hollywood and as a patriot? I most certainly did and I am absolutely devastated by this terrible event – especially for his family.”

This follows Trump going through intense criticism over his insensitive remarks about Rob’s death. Posting on X to handle the heartbreaking news, the President characterised him as a “tortured and struggling” actor stricken with “a mind crippling disease known as Trump derangement syndrome.”

He quipped that his demise got here from “the anger he caused others” and famous he was “known to drive people crazy by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump”. The post has been widely condemned as “inappropriate and disrespectful” – with Republican politician Thomas Massie among the critics.
