“I think the fact that when he first came out, he didn’t talk like a politician. He wasn’t that guy. He was a guy that spoke my language, put it in layman terms for me a little bit,” he explained.

He added: “I like what he stands for. I like that he’s a no BS kind of guy.”

Aldean said he was “honored” to accept the invitation to sing on Inauguration Day.

“It’s a big day for our country. The last few years have been really divisive, a lot going on, it’s a new era for our country,” he concluded.

In a previous statement, the singer further clarified his intentions with the performance.

“I’m not doing this for money,” he declared. “I respect the office. It don’t matter who in office.”
