JD Vance was heckled by protesters who accused him of supporting genocide while talking at a Turning Point USA event on Tuesday.

While selling his upcoming memoir detailing his 2019 conversion to Catholicism, the vice president was yelled at by a protester. “Jesus Christ does not support genocide!” the heckler shouted.

Vance pointed at the unnamed particular person in the group, saying that he agreed. “I agree, Jesus Christ certainly does not support genocide,” said Vance.

“Whoever yelled that out from the dark, he certainly does not. I think that’s pretty easy.”

However, the protester continued, asking Vance if he admits to genocide. “First of all, random dude who’s shouting, can I finish my point, and then I’ll respond to what you just shouted?” said Vance as the group started to boo the protester.

After answering a query from the moderator of the event, Vance returned to acknowledge the protester. “I believe he said the administration supports a genocide in Gaza,” said Vance.

“When we came in, the humanitarian situation in Gaza was an absolute catastrophe,” he continued. “You know who’s the person who got a peace agreement in Gaza? Donald J. Trump!”

Vance then urged the protesters to ship their complaints to former President Joe Biden; however, he was interrupted by a protester who accused Vance of “killing children.”

In response, Vance boasted about the successes the Trump administration has achieved in addressing the disaster in Gaza. “Right now, you see more humanitarian aid coming into Gaza than it has any time in the past five years,” he said.

“Because we have taken that situation seriously, and that’s one of the things that I am proud of about our administration.”

The heckler was then eliminated from the venue as Vance mocked him for “running away.”

Pope Leo says he’s ‘not afraid’ of Trump

Vance’s feedback come as President Donald Trump slammed Pope Leo XIV, calling him “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy.”

“I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post over the weekend. “We don’t like a pope who says it’s OK to have a nuclear weapon.”

However, Pope Leo said he wasn’t afraid of the Trump administration and would continue to communicate out against the conflict in Iran. Upon arriving in Algeria on Monday as half of an 11-day tour of Africa, the pontiff told reporters that he wasn’t a politician and would not enter a debate with the president.

“The message of the church, my message, the message of the gospel: blessed are the peacemakers. I do not look at my role as being political, a politician,” he said, including that he did not suppose the message of the gospel ought to “be abused, as some are doing.”

“I continue to speak strongly against war, seeking to promote peace, dialogue, and multilateralism among states to find solutions to problems,” he said. “I’m not afraid of the Trump administration or speaking out loudly of the message of the gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do, what the church is here to do.”
