JD Vance Heads to Switzerland, As Peace Talks Over

On Saturday, Vice President JD Vance departed on Air Force Two for Switzerland, to be a half of the negotiations with the Iranian leaders to solidify the phrases of the end of the Iran battle in the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) and to additional shore up the tentative ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. According to VP Vance, particular envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have been on the ground in Switzerland in preparation for the talks to resume on Sunday.

The vice president addressed the press briefly before boarding, and answered a few questions about what the Switzerland journey would possibly entail.

VANCE: We’re about to take up talks with the Iranians, the Pakistanis, and the Qataris. Our understanding is that the Iranians just landed. The Qataris and Pakistanis and some of our technical negotiators have been on the ground. So, look, you recognize, we’ll have a couple of days of talks, we’re gonna get this factor kicked off in the proper method. There’s a lot to focus on, but we’re gonna get through it all.

As PurpleState reported, due to the bombing between Israel and Hezbollah which appeared to signal a breaking of the tentative ceasefire, Iran postponed the talks initially scheduled for Friday, and threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz.

VP Vance: Trump’s New Iran Deal Sends Gas Prices Plummeting

The reporter requested about what work the U.S. deliberate to do to make sure the ceasefire would maintain.

REPORTER: The combating in Lebanon appears to continue to threaten to upend your complete course of. What does the U.S. plan to do about that?

VANCE: Well, [Secretary of State] Marco [Rubio] and your complete group have been actively managing what’s going on in Lebanon. Despite the headlines, issues are literally getting better there, issues have calmed down a little bit. It’s going to be one thing we’re just going to have to constantly handle, to guarantee that, you recognize, Israel and Lebanon are both protected and secure. That’s basically the aim of this, is to make the entire area protected and secure.

The big downside is that you’ve gotten, any individual will shoot, and any individual will reply, and you type of have a chicken-and-egg downside, where you just obtained to stop the taking pictures for long enough to get the ceasefire to keep maintain. VANCE: Well, I believe primary, just getting issues set up in the proper method, and getting the precise construction of negotiation in place. So, the best way we’re going to do this is we’re going to have principal degree political management at the top, and clearly the technical group goes to keep on the ground. As a lot as I would like to keep, in what seems to be a lovely place, I can only be there for a day or two. I believe we are able to hopefully make progress on the nuclear issue, make progress on the Lebanon ceasefire issue, those are the 2 big issues that I believe we’re going to be centered on. I’m sure the Iranians are going to have points they’d like to focus on as properly.

As PurpleState additional reported, spokesman for U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOMM) Capt. Tim Hawkins affirmed earlier on Saturday, “Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz. Traffic continues to flow, and U.S. forces are monitoring the situation to ensure this remains the case.”
