Jimmy Fallon has been inundated with support from fans after sharing a clip of his first ever Saturday Night Live audition.
The comedian, 50, shared the post on X in celebration of SNL’s 50th anniversary. Captioning the post, he said, “My SNL audition. I was so nervous. I want to thank Lorne Michaels for everything. (And @AdamSandler.) #SNL50.”
The clip was filmed in July 1998 and saw a nervous Jimmy do his best celebrity impressions. Fans were shocked by just how good Jimmy’s clip was and shared their praise in the comments.
“This is a message for younger generation : it’s possible,” one fan gushed.
Another commented, “Absolutely brilliant. So talented – well done! As John would say from the other side “you’ve passed the audition”.”
The SNL 50th anniversary special aired on Sunday night and saw plenty of famous faces come together to celebrate.
The concert took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and saw stars such as Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian and the Backstreet Boys take to the stage.
Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter opened the show with a special performance of Homeward Bound. Steve Martin then emerged onstage to deliver the show’s opening monologue.
Martin drew laughs when discussing his preparation, saying, “Lorne told me I was doing the monologue … on a friend’s boat down in the Gulf of Steve Martin.”
