Jimmy Kimmel urges fans to boycott Paramount+ – TV | TV Shows

Stephen Colbert had a star-studded lineup of late-evening hosts on his latest show.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is set to end after 11 seasons on CBS. With the last episode set for May 21, the show has featured a few big names in its closing week. On May 11, Colbert had fellow late-evening hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers on the show.

During their chat, Colbert told his friends to “make a case” for late-evening reveals after CBS canceled The Late Show. Colbert’s show wasn’t the only one in scorching water after Kimmel’s show was in scorching water lately for a joke he made about Melania Trump.

Kimmel told Colbert and his fellow late-evening hosts, “We have a lot of shows. 30,000 people watching each one, and it adds up.”

“People watch us on YouTube now. People have a lot of different choices, and they keep coming to us,” he said.

Kimmel also brought up when his show was suspended for a bit last September after he made a joke regarding Charlie Kirk’s assassination. “I’ll let you know, when I acquired knocked off the air for a few days, people canceled Disney+,” he said before adding. “Why aren’t people canceling Paramount+? Because you never had it in the first place?”

Many have speculated that Colbert’s show was canceled due to CBS’s settlement with Trump, and the network’s subsequent planned merger with Paramount and Skydance. The announcement was made in July 2025, while CBS was waiting for FCC approval

Colbert strongly criticizes Donald Trump on his show, leading many to believe CBS ended the show to appease the president.

Kimmel will show support for Colbert the night of his final show, as well. Kimmel’s late-night show that Thursday night will be a rerun, since the earlier shows that week will air live.

According to news site LateNighter, Kimmel made this decision “out of deference to Colbert’s sendoff.” Kimmel made the same determination in May 2015 for David Letterman’s last Late Show before Colbert took over.
