John Daly left ESPN reporter Marty Smith shocked when he claimed to have drunk as many as 60 of his self-branded seltzers in a single day.

The two-time main champion is nicknamed “The Wild Thing” for a purpose. Not only was he among the sport’s most colourful personalities on the course, but he has spent his life away from the game in the fast lane.

The 59-year-old appeared on the ‘Marty and McGee’ podcast this week to mirror on his profession and his continued exploits on the PGA Tour Champions.

Daly was also given the chance to talk about his new line of cocktails from Good Boy Vodka, and Smith knew the query that all viewers wished answered.

“What is the largest quantity of those John Daly seltzers that you’ve consumed in a day?” Smith requested, and he was blown away by Daly’s response.

With no pomp and ceremony, Daly bluntly replied: “I think I’ve done 55, 60 of these.” Smith couldn’t consider his ears. “In a day?” he requested.

Daly replied: “Yeah, we’re non-carbonated. We know there’s no additive sugar; we’re gluten-free. It’s only 4.5 per cent alcohol in them. Yeah, it’s not carbonated; it’s basically water.”

Smith’s podcast associate Ryan McGee, who covers NASCAR, baseball and more for the Worldwide Leader, chimed in: ““Yeah, you gotta hydrate. It’s basically water, John.”

Humorously, Daly has long made it identified that he’s not a fan of consuming water, virtually completely glugging cans of Diet Coke when he desires one thing without alcohol in it, knocking back as many as 20 cans per day.

Daly has had an eventful 2025 so far, to say the least. He underwent hand surgical procedure for the sixteenth time in the previous 4 years in January to deal with tangled tendons.

Yet he was back in motion on the PGA Tour Champions just a couple of months later at the Hoag Classic. He also loved a profitable week at The Masters by basing himself at the Augusta department of Hooters and setting up store. Daly also introduced an extension of his endorsement deal with the restaurant chain earlier this month.

Daly’s life is as colourful as ever, and in a March interview with the Associated Press, he mentioned: “I’m like Lazarus. I keep coming back from the dead. I didn’t think I’d been out here for three decades, I’ve only been dead 11 times… 16 surgeries in four years, I’ve lost count pretty much.”

Daly, who also overcame a battle with bladder cancer in 2020, performed in the opening main of the yr on the senior circuit final week, the Regions Tradition in Alabama, but he withdrew after seven holes for causes unknown.
