John Lewis star makes huge family admission after | UK News


John Lewis star Jack Aldridge has made a huge family admission after the 2025 Christmas advert dropped.

The division store unveiled its annual Christmas advert on Tuesday (November 4), focusing on a father and son who join over a 90s dance document.

The advert begins on Christmas Day with a father clearing up discarded wrapping paper when he discovers a forgotten current supposed for him.

Inside is a vinyl document of the Nineties dance observe Where Love Lives by Alison Limerick.

The dad swiftly heads to his document participant and as soon as the needle hits the groove, he is whisked away to a nightclub from his youthful days, studies the Daily Star.

In a room crammed with party-goers, the person spots his shy teenage son looking for him in the group. Memories start flooding back as he remembers his son taking his first steps as a toddler and smiling up at him as a child.

Suddenly, they’re introduced back to the current day, with the son catching his dad having fun with his present.

The heartwarming scenes end with the caption: “If you can’t find the words, find the gift.”

Jack Aldridge, who portrays the son in the clip, appeared on ITV’s This Morning today, where he chatted with hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about his thrilling new function.

He also disclosed that he did not inform any of his family about being in the advert, with his mum only discovering when the clip was launched this morning.

A shocked Cat began: “You didn’t even tell your mother! She must be going into overdrive this morning.”

Jack responded: “I woke up to a message from my mum. I FaceTimed her, she’s screaming down the phone, crying. It was worth it to not tell anyone, to just really keep it to myself and then boom, there you go.”

He continued: “I just felt that the story’s all there, and that’s what’s interesting. It’s an interesting dichotomy that I find with it, it’s incredibly universal. It’s a story that everybody can connect with and yet, it’s so deeply personal and profound in that sense.

“I may only come at it from my own experiences with my dad, and connecting to my dad through music. I used to be raised on The Beatles with my dad and I’ve launched him to Sam Fender since. So, that connection is there for me.”

On landing the role, Jack added: “So, they did not inform me through the audition course of what it was. And I did not speculate, I did not assume about it… And now being on the other facet of it, I’m actually pleased with that last product.”

Ben humorously chimed in: “The only particular person who is just not going to be pleased is [your mum], who is kind of frankly, livid with you for not telling her!”
