Kelly Clarkson didnt want to win American Idol – | TV Shows

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she recalled: “I was like, ‘er,’” mimicking the sound of stopping car tires. 

“I was like, ‘Ain’t no Meryl Streep here, y’all,’” she added.

Once she won the competition, she begged the producers to change the terms of her deal.

“I cried for a solid hour on the phone with the creator of American Idol and pleaded to be let out of the contract that said I had to film From Justin to Kelly,” she admitted to US Weekly.

Unfortunately for Kelly, it was no use and the singer’s time on set was dreadful.

“Can I tell you something? I don’t even remember [filming] it, because all I did was cry,” she revealed. “I obviously tried to put my best foot forward but just that’s my best foot forward.”

Even after 23 years, her stance on the movie hasn’t changed. 

Kelly said: “Now, then, future: Nope!” The actress won’t even let her nannies show the movie to her children.

The singer wishes she could completely discard the film. 

“I just want it to go away. I want to own all of it. I just want it to not be here,” she explained to TIME.

Kelly has only starred in a handful of movies since and the only musicals she has been in are animated ones including UglyDolls and Trolls World Tour, which also stars Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick.
