King Charles will have to show off for Trump if | Political News

King Charles spent three days entertaining Donald Trump earlier this month, and now that it’s all completed and dusted, Charles could also be getting on a airplane to go see the president.

President Trump was in the U.Ok. for a state go to, which went so effectively that he’d like to reciprocate and invite Charles and Camilla to the US for a state go to of their own. While Charles and Camilla’s go to to the U.S. could also be thrilling for royal watchers, one knowledgeable says it will not be all that thrilling forther royals themselves.

Speaking with The Daily Express U.S., royal knowledgeable Pauline Maclaran, Professor at Royal Holloway, revealed her first ideas about the British monarch presumably visiting for the first time. “My first thoughts, poor Charles, having to show off his diplomacy again, potentially – just when he thought he could relax a bit, probably,” she said.

According to Maclaran, her answer was only half joking. While the official invitation has not gone out, the White House has confirmed that it plans on inviting the royals at some point.

When Maclaran was asked if Trump would follow through on this, the royal expert said it may depend on his mood. She explained: “It’s very hard to predict Trump, and it will certainly depend on how he’s feeling nearer the day.”

It is well-known that President Trump has a delicate spot for the Royal Family and wouldn’t miss an alternative to rub elbows with the royals, which Maclaran expanded on. “My guess is he will not be able to resist another occasion to feature himself playing a starring role in the pomp and pageantry, although of course, this will not be as evident or colorful as it was in England,” she said.

“However, the visit will certainly attract much attention and Trump loves that,” added Maclaran. It’s predicted that the king will likely accept President Trump’s invitation to come to the US.

Another expert said that the king should accept this, as we need to “stand together.” Brittani Barger, co-founder of Royal News, claimed that acceptance would continue the repeatedly touted “special relationship” between the two countries.

“I would think the King would accept it as it is a great way to keep the special relationship between the U.S. and UK,” she said. “In times such as these, it’s important that we stand together.”

There is no report of a British monarch declining a state go to to the US, but with that said, it does rely on Charles’ health, which comes first. If, for some cause, the British monarch shouldn’t be in a position to make the go to, it’s being said that Prince William and Princess Kate would go in his place, downgrading the go to to just an official go to.

“I feel the only means Charles would decline the invite is for health causes,” Barger said. “The go to may be altered so that the Prince and Princess of Wales might come in his place, of course, if the Princess’s health permits. In that case, it could just be an official go to and not a state go to.”
