BBC’s Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise actor Kris Marshall mentioned ITV programme Sanditon’s axing before its subsequent revival.
Sanditon, based on Jane Austen’s unfinished novel, returned for a second run in July 2022, following its cancellation during its initial sequence due to struggles to interact viewers.
Speaking to RadioTimes in a earlier interview, Kris said about the programme’s return: “It is the first show I’ve been on that has been cancelled and then reinstated.”
He credited the programme’s passionate supporters for its return, as they championed the sequence across the Atlantic: “The fans did that after it took off in America, organising an incredible campaign to bring the show back.”
An appreciative Kris disclosed that he witnessed outstanding sand artwork tributes by supporters on the seaside close to their filming location, characterising the fanbase as “relentless”.
He completed by expressing his pleasure at Sanditon’s recommissioning for two additional sequence and his enthusiasm about reprising his function as Tom Parker, the pushed businessman striving to set up Sanditon as a main coastal resort.
