Landmans Billy Bob Thornton says hardest stunt made | UK News

Billy Bob Thornton returns for Landman season 2, with the strain mounting for Tommy Norris as he strives to lead M-Tex Oil. Crafted by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, Landman options Thornton portraying a disaster government or ‘fixer’ for a petroleum firm in West Texas.

The synopsis for the Paramount Plus drama reads: “Set in the boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern tale of fortune seeking amongst roughnecks and wildcat billionaires – fueling an oil boom so big it’s reshaping the climate, the economy and geopolitics.”

Beyond exploring the intricacies of the petroleum sector, Landman highlights the perils of working on drilling platforms, exhibiting unintended blasts, cartel brutality and even labourers being crushed beneath large machinery. In an exclusive chat forward of Landman season 2, Thornton revealed which sequences proved most tough to shoot.

“You know, I’ve always been pretty good at stunts,” he disclosed. “External pain doesn’t really bother so much; it’s internal pain. So, yeah, we had to do a few things. In the first season, when I had to run by the oil fire for several takes…

“My respect for firemen is already very high; now it is twice as high. You assume you are melting. You know, it is harmful just having dinner with Ali!” he joked, referencing co-star Ali Larter who portrays his former spouse Angela Norris.

Operating under harsh circumstances is nothing new to Thornton, who undertook various hazardous and physically taxing roles during his youth, reports the Mirror.

When questioned about whether filming Landman had altered his view on those working in the oil industry, he affirmed: “For sure. I imply, particularly the fellows out in the sphere – yes it did.

“Although I grew up working a lot of dangerous jobs when I was a kid,” he disclosed. “I worked in a saw mill and I worked in a machine shop and hauled heavy equipment.

“I labored in some jobs that weren’t precisely the most secure ones on earth, so possibly that’s why, when I noticed the real oil guys on the market..

“Some of them were actually operating these rigs during the scenes, and I think that’s why we would get along, because they knew my history back there of working in Texas and Arkansas.”

Meanwhile, Thornton hinted that viewers may witness a different aspect to Tommy this season, as he acknowledged: “You’ll see all the colours this season. Every one of them.”

The Paramount Plus synopsis for Landman season 2 reads: “In Season Two, as oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy Norris’s (Thornton) breaking point may be closer than he realises.

“Facing mounting strain from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas is not noble – it is brutal. And sooner or later one thing’s bought to break.”

Landman season 2 airs weekly on Sundays on Paramount Plus.
