Letters to Sports: Bill Plaschkes Dodgers

Congratulations to all the younger athletes and their groups on The Times All-Area high college basketball groups. I do marvel about the alternatives the seniors are making in their commitments to schools and I look to The Times to clarify why UCLA is seemingly not on the radar for these younger gamers.

It used to be identified that the Bruins’ educational necessities have been a important barrier to many high college gamers. Is that still true? Are the local graduates not the cream of the crop that Southern California was identified for in past years? Are NIL offers affecting the alternatives of these future freshmen? Is UCLA not making a strong outreach effort for the top local expertise? Is L.A. so terrible for these youngsters that it isn’t even on their radar to keep close to home?

I’m sure I’m not alone in searching for readability around the issue of the exodus of local expertise to Missouri, Oregon State, Texas, North Carolina, Nevada, and even more confounding, USC.
