Liam Payne’s legacy continues with appearance on | TV Shows

Liam Payne, the former One Direction member who tragically passed away last year, will make a posthumous appearance on Netflix’s upcoming talent show, Building the Band.

The singer, who died at 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, will feature as a guest judge alongside Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland.

The series, set to premiere later in 2025, was announced before Liam’s untimely death and aims to assemble a pop band from a pool of aspiring singers who have never met each other.

Drawing parallels with Love is Blind, Netflix teases: “The singers are in complete control as they seek to form their very own bands in individual ‘booths’ without ever seeing each other. All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry, and merit.”

The streaming giant further stokes anticipation by posing the question: “What will happen when the bands finally meet, and looks, choreography, and style come into play?

“Netflix will sit down with Liam’s family when the time is right to speak about the series and when it could be released.”

The source added: “Everyone involved is devastated and their heart goes out to his family. There is no rush or pressure to release the series.

“It would simply be a beautiful tribute to Liam and capture him at his best in the months before his death.”

The show, hosted by Backstreet Boys’ AJ McClean and featuring Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger as a mentor and judge, is included in Netflix’s lineup for this year, though an exact release date remains unconfirmed.

Nicole Scherzinger, who judged The X Factor when Liam auditioned in 2010 and helped form One Direction, is part of the project.

Building the Band was one of Liam’s last projects before his tragic demise.

He also recorded a final track with Sam Pounds, titled Do No Wrong. North Carolina singer Sam Pounds delayed the song’s release, expressing his wish for the One Direction star’s family to “mourn in peace and in prayer”.
