LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil has teased major incoming signings to the breakaway tour after shedding key participant Brooks Koepka late last 12 months.

The departure of Koepka, 35, a five-time major winner, was a vital setback for LIV Golf. He announced his exit from the tour with plans to spend more time in the United States with his household.

Both LIV Golf and Koepka maintained that the break up was pleasant, with the American ending his partnership with the Saudi-backed tour, which had initially ended after he joined on a mega contract for the inaugural 2022 marketing campaign.

After initially leaving the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, Koepka appears to be gearing up for a dramatic return. Koepka filed for reinstatement on Friday. The PGA Tour confirmed Koepka’s determination to Mirror U.S. Sport, marking the first procedural step in the direction of a reunion. 

LIV Golf is totally dedicated to persevering with its early success in attracting top global expertise to the tour. CEO O’Neil has hinted at vital arrivals. “We’re looking to have the strongest strength of field in the history of LIV this year, if we can close out these last few players to come across, which would be really exciting,” he said.

So far, LIV’s efforts to entice new gamers to the tour have been unsuccessful. Marco Penge, Si Woo Kim, and Max Greyserman have all been linked in latest weeks, but none have yet dedicated to becoming a member of.

Greyserman turned down a profitable eight-figure offer that would have made him the most recent marquee signing for the Saudi-financed enterprise.

This development marks another twist in LIV’s unpredictable journey, following O’Neil’s management starting on a constructive observe, most notably with Dustin Johnson pledging his long-term dedication to the group.

Bryson DeChambeau has also moved to dispel conjecture about his own plans, capturing down recommendations that he was poised to exit alongside Koepka.

However, with DeChambeau’s current deal working out at 12 months’s end, there was minimal public dialogue or transparency about a doable extension.

Speaking to Flushing It, the American explained: “We have to get to a place where both parties have a good understanding of one another. It is [about] getting to a place that makes sense for both sides.

“And, I feel that can occur, but you never know. Life throws curve balls and, clearly, we noticed what occurred today [with Koepka] and that was fairly a shock to a lot of people.”

DeChambeau also weighed in on Koepka’s departure and whether his Ryder Cup partner might receive a special waiver to rejoin the PGA Tour, potentially paving the way for similar moves by others.

“That] undoubtedly opens the doorways for others to do the same,” DeChambeau noted. “There’s a lot of issues to go through. With Brooks leaving it undoubtedly throws in some distinctive issues.

“And look, I mean, like I’ve said all along: I want to do this, I want to grow team golf across the globe. But it has to be right. And there’s a lot of things that have to be done in order for it to be right. Things have got to change. Things have got to improve.”
