LIV Golf has issued a statement following Patrick Reed’s determination to return to the PGA Tour.

Reed announced on Wednesday that he can be leaving the Saudi-backed circuit and rejoining the PGA Tour for the 2027 season, rapidly explaining his determination. His departure comes sizzling on the heels of fellow LIV star Brooks Koepka’s surprising return to the PGA Tour, who swiftly issued a statement. 

Now, LIV has voiced its stance on one of its top gamers exiting the circuit. Their statement was launched roughly an hour after the PGA Tour announced the American’s return, and just days after Reed praised the tour at the Dubai Invitational.

“We were not able to come to terms with Patrick on a potential contract extension,” started LIV’s statement on Wednesday. “We’re grateful for everything he contributed during his time on the 4Aces at LIV Golf and wish him the best.

“LIV has always been an advocate for participant motion and acknowledges that when golf settles into a new regular, gamers won’t only have the suitable, but the chance to play golf when and where they need.”

Despite losing two stars back to the PGA Tour, LIV reaffirmed its commitment to building its player roster.

“As we glance ahead, our focus stays on building groups and a league that followers can imagine in and gamers get pleasure from – those who compete at the best degree, play the sport the suitable method, and perceive the accountability to grow the sport around the world by partaking followers and celebrating companions,” the statement continued.

“We’re building the world’s golf league and every determination we make is guided by what’s best for the long-term future of the sport, our gamers, and followers.”

This statement from the circuit comes just hours after the 35 year old announced his return to the PGA Tour on social media, where he spent the first decade of his career.

He wrote: “After cautious thought and consideration, my household and I’ve determined that I’ll no longer compete on the LIV Golf Tour. I’m excited to announce that I’m returning to the PGA TOUR as a past champion member for the 2027 season and am eligible to start competing in PGA TOUR occasions later this 12 months.

“I will continue to compete and play as an Honorary Lifetime Member on the DP World Tour, which is something that I am truly honored and excited to do. I’m a traditionalist at heart, and I was born to play on the PGA TOUR, which is where my story began with my wife, Justine. I am very fortunate for the opportunities that have come my way and grateful for the life we have created. I am moving forward in my career, and I look forward to competing on the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour.

“I am unable to wait to get back on the market and revisit some of the best locations on earth. I need to thank everybody concerned for serving to me make this determination. Over the last 4 years, I’ve realized a lot about myself, about who I’m and who I’m not, and for that I’m without end grateful.

“To Dustin Johnson, The Aces, and LIV Golf, I want to thank you for the memories we shared and created together. To golf fans around the world, I just want to thank you all for your continued support over the years. I just ask that you respect the decision we have made for our family, our children, and our future. Thank you for your continued support.”

As the deadline for LIV golfers to search reinstatement in the PGA Tour approached on Monday, ESPN reported that Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford have efficiently reinstated their tour memberships.
