Fans of Loose Women have shared their praise after the Home Secretary appeared live on the ITV show. Ruth Langsford hosted the latest version of the programme on Tuesday (June 9), alongside Coleen Nolan, Janet Street-Porter, and Jane Moore.

Later in the show, the panellists have been joined by Shabana Mahmood, who mentioned a quantity of important authorities insurance policies. This comes after the UK authorities requested tech firms, such as Apple and Google, to block access to bare pictures on smartphones and other devices for under-18s.

Jane then requested the Labour cupboard minister about immigration and asylum inns, with Mahmood replying: “The move to using hotels in the way that they’ve been used in this country under the last government was a terrible move.”

Jane shortly famous: “But you’ve been in [power] for what, two years now?” Mahmood continued: “Hotel use has decreased and it will decrease further. We’ve said we’ll get out of all asylum hotels at least before the end of this Parliament, but I want to go faster than that.”

“But what about stopping the small boats? Which is, of course, what Sir Keir Starmer promised when he first received in as Prime Minister,” Jane challenged.

She continued: “A lot of people watching this show will say, ‘We pay millions to France. We have a deal, right?’ But when we intercept small boats in the channel – so be it Border Force, RNLI, Navy or whatever – we bring them here.

“If now we have a deal with France, why do not we ship them back to France as a deterrent, so they will not get in those boats in the first place? Who or what is it that’s stopping you from doing that? Because I consider you do need to do that.”

Mahmood replied: “I completely do need to get to grips with this disaster, and I’ll do whatever it takes and whatever I can do to stop those boats crossing,” with Jane interjecting: “Well, I’ve just given you a suggestion.”

The politican went on: “The problem right here is [which] bit of the water you are selecting someone up.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the Home Secretary discussed policing, and whether she wanted the job of Prime Minister.

ITV viewers soon praised the panellists, particularly Jane, for challenging the MP. “Well said Jane Moore @loosewomen #immigration @ShabanaMahmood,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Another added: “At least this panel have considerably challenged her,” while a third said: “@ShabanaMahmood great interview on @loosewomen excellent questions from @The_Real_JSP and @janem.”

A fourth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: “@ShabanaMahmood, you seemed more confused being interviewed by @loosewomen panel than when I see you on other news channels. They are just as good interviewers than political correspondents or news presenters,” with another similarly sharing: “Fair play to Jane.”

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
