ITV star Lorraine Kelly‘s father died following a tragic accident precipitated by the current icy circumstances sweeping the nation. The 66-year-old grandmother announced his death at the age of 84 on social media on Saturday, January 10, but at the time she didn’t reveal his cause of death. Taking to Instagram, she shared an image of the 2 of them together and wrote: “Very sad news. My dad has died. I am mourning the man who bought me a telescope when I was five years old, who watched the moon landings with me and taught me to always be curious and interested in everything.

“He was in poor health, but it has still been a shock. Any of you who have skilled a comparable loss will know how my brother Graham and I are feeling. Our precedence is taking care of my mum, and the household would very a lot recognize privateness at this distressing time.”

It has subsequently been revealed that he slipped on an icy path amid sub-zero temperatures.

The great-grandfather was reportedly discovered injured early on Saturday morning in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, and died at the scene.

Staff at a local Tesco discovered him injured at around 7am and called emergency companies, according to The Sun.

Images obtained by the publication show a heavy police presence in the world while an investigation is under means, although they confirmed that there have been no suspicious circumstances.
