French President Emmanuel Macron was caught on a hot mic on Tuesday, admitting that he had a “difficult” meeting with President Donald Trump the night time before as he hosts the annual Group of Seven summit in France.
“Yesterday we had a difficult discussion with President Trump,” Macron reportedly told the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as the dialog was picked up on a hot mic as they walked together.
This three-day summit held in Évian-les-Bains, France, comes after the U.S. and Iran reached a deal to end the practically four-month warfare in the Middle East, which might be a key matter of dialogue, as nicely as Russia’s warfare in Ukraine.
Macron, talking in English on a hot mic, inspired Zelensky to keep longer at the summit of world leaders, who are representing the U.S., Japan, France, Canada, the U.Okay., Italy, and Germany. However, the Ukrainian chief said he was anticipated in Brussels later this week.

“OK, I will arrange that,” Macron said, and his efforts appeared to achieve success. Later that day, Trump told reporters he would meet with Zelensky.
“The key focus is to strengthen air defense for Ukraine and advance diplomacy, to make Russia end its war. Peace is needed,” Zelensky wrote on X relating to his conferences at the summit.

When Zelensky called Trump on Sunday, he instructed that Trump host a trilateral meeting with Putin to focus on the warfare.
“Yesterday, we discussed with President Trump that such a meeting could be organized in the US, in a format where Putin would find it much harder to refuse,” Zelensky said in a video posted on X on Monday before he left for the G7 summit. “We will see what comes of it. If Russia refuses this chance as well, additional pressure will be needed.”
After Trump met with Zelensky at the summit, he called it a “very good meeting,” indicating that he could be turning his docus to resolving Russia’s warfare now that he reached an settlement with Iran.
Speaking to reporters, according to NBC News, Trump said he would do “whatever I can” on Ukraine.
“Russia should make a deal,” Trump said, the outlet reported. “Russia’s lost tremendous amounts of people, and so has Ukraine.”
Tension between Trump and Macron
There has been strong criticism from the G7 leaders relating to the U.S. and Israel warfare in Iran, as many leaders opposed the Iran warfare and didn’t be part of Trump’s earlier plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the important oil delivery waterway, by drive.
Trump had repeatedly focused some of the leaders with jabs over the past few months due to their refusal to present help in the Iran warfare. While Macron has prided himself on having the ability to deal with Trump, his hot-mic second in which he revealed he had a “difficult” dialog with Trump might point out the strain.
