Major 9-1-1 character killed off as fans cant | TV Shows

A major 9-1-1 character has been killed off after eight seasons, with fans left heartbroken by his exit.

Peter Krause, who has been the co-lead and executive producer of the hit first-responder drama, said the death of his character, Captain Bobby Nash, was “more than a bold creative choice on a bold show.”

The actor, 59, acknowledged that fans of the ABC show will be upset – but said Bobby’s death goes to show that emergency responders risk their lives on the job to protect other people.

Rumors of a major death in 9-1-1 have been swirling for weeks after images of the crew shooting a large-scale funeral scene in downtown Los Angeles emerged on social media.

In episode 15 of Season 8, Bobby tragically succumbed to a lethal virus after Station 118 was called to a research facility which had been set on fire by a mad scientist named Moira (Bridget Regan).

In a statement shared with Variety on Thursday, Peter said, “I’ve heard that many fans are upset by this loss and they have a right to be. It is a loss.

“That said, it was more than a bold creative choice on a bold show. Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this.

“First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day. His story arc honors them.

“We at 9-1-1′ salute all the incredible men and women who do these dangerous jobs and strive to keep us safe.

“Our show is incredibly difficult to make at times with long hours, challenging stunts and elaborate disasters. We couldn’t do it without each other.”

The next episode will show Station 118 mourning the loss of their captain, according to the teaser for the upcoming May 1 episode, during which crew members are grappling with Bobby’s death.

It shows the group of firefighters carrying Bobby’s casket as Athena says, “I’ve experienced a devastating loss… He’s not supposed to be dead. He just left. He left me.”

Fans have taken to social media to mourn the death of Bobby, as one wrote on X, “y’all i’m gonna be so real and say that if bobby nash is actually dead then i’m gonna stop watching like my heart can’t handle it.” 

Another distraught viewer tweeted, “I feel sick, I have a headache. I feel like someone’s stabbed me and twisted the knife repeatedly. I feel like I’ve genuinely lost someone irl, this just f—–g HURTS. Bobby Nash deserved SO. MUCH. MORE.”

A third added, “I can’t handle this BRING BOBBY BACK.” And someone else said, “I ACTUALLY REFUSE TO BELIEVE BOBBY DIED FOR REAL. Like don’t f—–g do this to me I can’t handle this.”
