Frontier Airlines has suggested its customers to e-book with other carriers if they plan to fly over the next 10 days as delays mount amid the record-breaking authorities shutdown.
“If you might be flying Friday or in the next ten days and need to be there or don’t need to be stranded I extremely suggest reserving a backup ticket on another provider,” CEO Barry Biffle posted on Instagram on Thursday.
The shutdown has now entered its thirty seventh day, surpassing the earlier file for the longest authorities shutdown by two days. The earlier file was set during the first Trump administration. It comes as other US airways offer refunds and incentives for passengers not to fly amid the FAA flight discount.
Other airways are also bracing for delays, as there’s a 10% discount in air visitors anticipated to start on Friday amid the shutdown.
Air visitors controllers are being pressured to work without pay, as are TSA brokers. Delays have been reported at a number of major airport hubs across the nation, with 1000’s of flights operating behind schedule, and dozens, if not a whole bunch, more canceled.
While Frontier Airlines is telling customers to e-book with other carriers, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are offering waivers to permit passengers who don’t desire to fly to change their tickets without further charges.
