Mamdani-Backed Chevalier Wins Primary, but Check

Anyone who is a big fan of socialism, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and who hates Israel has to be loving what performed out on Tuesday in the three House main races where the mayor made an endorsement.  All three of the candidates he backed, Brad Lander in NY-10, Claire Valdez in NY-07, and Darializa Avila Chevalier in NY-13, have moved on to the final election, where they’re seemingly to be victorious in the closely blue gerrymandered districts.

Of the three, Avila Chevalier’s victory was the narrowest, with her barely squeaking by five-term incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat, who is the Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. He’s also the co-chair of the House Latino-Jewish Caucus, which could have been one factor that helped sink his reelection bid, contemplating the anti-Israel, pro-Hamas sentiment that has taken root in the Big Apple under Mamdani’s “leadership.”

Here’s what it appeared like with about 88 % of the vote in:

Something I discovered reasonably attention-grabbing and telling about this main race was polling numbers that have been launched a week forward of the first that confirmed where Democrat voters in the district stood on Avila Chevalier and Espaillat:

Doctoral candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier, who is also supported by the Democratic Socialists of America, bested Espaillat among white voters, 35% to 25%, according to the survey obtained by The Post.

Espaillat led among black voters 36% to 21% and Latinos 42% to 30% in the thirteenth House District that runs through the northern Manhattan neighborhoods of Morningside Heights, Harlem, East Harlem, Washington Heights/Inwood and the western Bronx.

It would not shock me one bit to discover out that woke white leftists (including AWFLs, of course) helped put Avila Chevalier over the top in the first, when one considers which Democrat voters helped Mamdani surge to victory in the mayoral main last summer season, and which of them did not:

And Mr. Mamdani did so even as he misplaced many of New York City’s most solidly Black neighborhoods. A New York Times analysis of the outcomes reveals that Mr. Cuomo dominated in precincts where at least 70 % of residents are Black, more than doubling Mr. Mamdani’s help, 59 % to 26 %.

The “tough part that we’re wrestling with,” [Rev. Rashad Moore] added, “is Zohran won with support of liberal progressive white folk. Are these the same progressive white folk that are pricing us out and we can’t live in the community? That’s the tension.”
