Man arrested for attempted bombing of SNL | TV Shows

An individual is in custody for the harrowing “attempted bombing” of the iconic Saturday Night Live studios, creating a frenzy among fans with a bomb scare in the heart of New York City.

Michael Branham from Glen Head, New York has been nabbed following an NYPD investigation. After receiving reports of a bomb threat directed at the famous studios, the New York Police Department, according to people, PEOPLE, they got wind of the situation in the Midtown North Precinct around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1.

Branham, aged 48, was arrested on Wednesday, April 2, as indicated by court documents. Charges of issuing a mass harm threat and falsely reporting an incident landed Branham behind bars, with legal records indicating his plea of not guilty to both accusations, setting his bail at $100,000.

As of Saturday, April 5, Saturday Night Live has not provided any official statement in response to an inquiry from PEOPLE.

Digging deeper into the case, NBC noted that there appears to be a chilling connection between Branham and actress Scarlett Johansson, who previously sought but was denied a restraining order against someone with his name, the denial due to a technicality.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, actors, singers, comedians, and other personalities gathered to celebrate the late-night show’s 50th anniversary in New York City.

Saturday Night Live first aired on October 11, 1975, with George Carlin as the host under the original title, NBC’s Saturday Night. The show is renowned for its sketches, special musical performances, hosts, and the iconic Weekend Update segment with Colin Jost and Michael Che.
